As is often the case when Crystal Palace face Liverpool, there was plenty of drama.
Monday night football was back in the Premier League as Crystal Palace faced Liverpool at Selhurst Park this evening.
The Eagles welcomed the Reds to Selhurst Park for the first Monday night fixture of the new season, with both sides looking to build on opening day wins, against Fulham and West Ham respectively.
But it was Liverpool who came out on top in the game, recording their fifth win in the last six meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
There was plenty of controversy in the game though, with Liverpool’s first goal coming courtesy of a penalty, which Palace boss Roy Hodgson was very aggrieved about afterwards.
Palace also had Aaron Wan-Bissaka sent off in the second half as the Eagles lost out, with Sadio Mane sealing the victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men with a second goal in injury time.
Despite the result, plenty of Palace fans were proud of their team’s performance, with Wan-Bissaka once again earning plaudits for his display.
